Fraser first and foremost places importance on writing for the common good of the community, researching and reporting on topics that are relevant to the people in a particular public sphere. Different topics have different relevance in different cultures or public spheres. Reporters have a duty not only to themselves but also to their community to comment on subjects that they and their public sphere care about or things that are relevant to them. It is important to point out that what one reporter may consider as “good” for the community differs from person to person. There is also an emphasis on a false sense of diversity within the voices of any particular public sphere. In reality, there are a lot of people saying the same thing in communities for a multitude of different reasons. In my opinion, capitalism has a large part to play in this. Money pays for most things, including a space to voice your opinion. So often voices within a public sphere are silenced for lack of exposure or wealth.
